I heard that you have taken a trip recently.

I heard that you had taken a trip.

Both are correct?

So...

A : Wow, Long time no see.

B : Oh, I heard that you have taken a trip recently. Please, talk to me about that.


or


B : Oh, I heard that you had taken a trip. Please, talk to me about that.


Which sentence is correct?

When did they take the trip? If it's long tiume no see, then 'recently' doesn't really work, so I'd use the second.
