I'm wondering what the following word "polka dots" means "Since you said goodbye the polka dots fill my eyes".

ps: It appears in a song by The Libertines called "What Katie Did"

It's normally a largish spot in a pattern on clothes. Could you give us a line or two on either side?

I have been thinking about what the meaning can be. But I can't even come up with a word or expression in Dutch that has the same meaning like this.

Is it possible that it is related to Cockney slang ?

It's not any Cockney that I know, though if you didn't know, pins are legs. I think it's the blurred vision caused by crying, rubbing eyes, etc.
