Hi there!
I've a question ... I tried hard to search -my 500 English learning books-for the answer but no way. My questions is: ... we usually place a period in writing abbreviations such as U.S.A. but why is it written a slash in abbrevaitions like A/C - air conditioning - and a/s/l -age, sex and location?
By the by, I didn't mention the number of the books to show off but show that I am an English teacher and I have excellent and superb English references dealing with all aspects of English. Starting with phonemes and ending in ... styles. I don't pretend superiority but I like to be an excellent linguist. EMAIL REMOVED - Send PM to This User Instead

Maybe to distinguish it- AC = alternating current.

Nowadays people tend to leave the slashes out.
Most of them just type "asl" and when it comes to the electrical currents it's AC/DC just like the popular rockband
