please help! prefix "re-" usage

I used "retow" in a scrabble game, as "we had to retow the car, as we brought it to the wrong garage." my dictionary says re- can be used with "many" verbs, not all listed in the dictionary. my opponents refused to allow it, or even give me another turn. i think it's perfectly logical that it should be ok, but can find no rule saying yes or no. any help??

I can't see whynot:
We had to tow the car to the garage, but they could not fix it, so we retoed it to the main garage.
It is possible, but I think that the rules of Scrabble state that the word must be in the official Scrabble dictionary to restrict the potential for such neologisms.
