what is a paradox?

could any be kind enough to explain a paradox with some examples?
simple examples which school children can follow and grasp the meaning of a paradox .

Hi Anjali,

Paradox is a statement that leads to contrdiction or contradicts itself. But it expresses a truth. For e.g. "Water, water, everywhere (in a sea?), and not a drop to drink".

Yes, I got some in mind.
"I always lie" ( because if that's true it's automatically false)
"Fighting for Peace"( for obvious reasons)
"An original copy of a painting"( how can it be original if it's a copy?)
( I'm not sure if this one is actually a paradox)"Our noses run but our feet smell"( because it's supposed to be the other way around some times.)
