Dear all

Hello

What do these terms mean?

1-I started out this day in rather a bleak mood.

2- He saw a meter maid who was being given a hard time by the owner of a BMW to whom she was giving a ticket.

1- felt depressed
2- a meter maid gives parking tickets for parking in the wrong place or for too long, so the owner was arguing with her about it
