Question Grammar. How important initally?

Do you think that it is more important to concentrate on conversation skills rather than grammatically correct speech when teaching a new student?

Default Re: Grammar. How important initally?

I tink that successful comunication is the most important thing, so I would put that above grammatical accuracy in the early stages. If someone approaches you in the street and says 'Where post office is?', you'll understand them. Developing the confidence to communicate is of primary importance. grammatical accuracy is important, but students should be able to explore and test things and develop- insistence on accuracy from day one may inhibit them.
