Default What verb can describe this action and the associated attitude, please?

    Hi,

I wonder if you could kindly help me find the right verb, or any related idiom/expression.

This guy goes to a party/club where he doesn't belong, because he's coming from a lower social class. So, he's trying to come across as a classy and well-educated person by, say, putting on a fake accent, talking about his being to posh places, etc. What form of verb/idiom/expression could be used to express his action?

Is there anything including the word 'class'?

    (He's putting on an act?!)

    Hello.

Well, my vocabulary is limited, but in this type of scenario I'd use nouns like "poser" or "wannabe," verbs like "posing" or expressions like "putting on a facade."

Some with a better answer will probably be here shortly :)

PS: "wannabe" should be taking like a half joke, not a serious suggestion.
