    here is a saying:
    love is like coke: something you get as the product of making something else.

    what does "coke" mean here?
    coca-cola?
    cocaine?
    something that can be burned like coal?

    what is coke the by-product of ?

    What does the saying mean?

    Hello JJ

    I think this refers to "petroleum coke", rather than Coca-Cola, cocaine, or the coke that it derived from coal. Petroleum coke is a byproduct of the petroleum-refining process.
