Default The sense of audience

Hi, I still have some problems using collective nouns.

For the above phrase, is 'The sense of audience' a correct expression? or should I put something between 'of' and 'audience'?

Thanks for any help in advance.

I'd add an/the if you're referring to the way the audience feels.
