which is the correct sentence:

Keep this book on the table
or
Put this book on the table.

Please help me to learn when to use "keep" and when to use "put" in sentence formation.

Both are correct, but mean different things.

"Keep this book on the table" means that the book is already on the table and should not be removed from it.

"Put this book on the table" means that the book is not on the table; you are telling someone to take the book and place it on the table.
