An expedition is a journey, taken singly or [more normally] in company, with a specific aim, such as exploration. An itinerary is a plan for a journey [which may, or may not, be an expedition], consisting of a list of the places the journey will include, perhaps with relevant dates and times and other details. Thus, "I am going to Scotland on an expedition to investigate the existence of the Loch Ness Monster. My itinerary involves arriving at Inverness on the 20th July, then moving to Drumnadrochit on the 22nd, before ending up at Fort Agustus on the 25th, and leaving for home the next day with the results".
