responded twice as much
1-The children in the second group responded twice as much as the ones in the first group to the stimulus.
Does this mean that
a-the strength of their response was higher than the strength of the response of the cats in the first group
b-the number of their responses were higher. (maybe they responded twice every time)

Re: responded twice as much
It depends what the stimulus was. If they were asked questions, I'd go for B and think that the first group were lazy, but if they were given electric shocks, I'd go for A.
