Default I need two words, please

Hello,

The word in capitals can be used to form a word that fits suitably in the blank space. Any suggestions?

1) The professor explained his ideas with great _________ (CLEAR)
2) He ___________ to hit me if I didn't hand over my money (THREAT)

Thanks :)
