1. “sorry, darling—I stand corrected.” i read this sentence from a dictionary but can't get it.
here, "stand" means "be in a specified state or condition"
Could you paraphrase it in plain English? thx in advance:)
2. the same problem occurs with this sentence. "he has a standing invitation to visit them" . i can't comprehend this.
