69-words of love
Dear all
Hello
I've heard lots of words that men and women call each other with. I want to know the place each of them should be used.
e.g. ~ darling, dear, honey, sweety, baby…
Is there any special situation that we have to use one of these?
I mean do these differ as we want to use them for ordinary friends, girl/boy friend, soul mate, our favorite person …
Thanks a million

Re: 69-words of love
It's very much a matterof personal taste. I, for instance, would only use some of those and then only to my partner.

Re: 69-words of love
Dear Tdol
you mean that they are not allocated for a specific use?
you know, i always call every one with honey, and i heard that it is just used for lovers.
and i heard the same thing about baby, and sweethearted, and darling.
was that correct, or they told me s.th nonsense?
Thanks a million

Re: 69-words of love
All of them are OK for lovers. You will hear them used with other people, but it's a usage that requires care- with close people, it would be OK. They tend to be used in a joking way with people who are not lovers or partners.

Re: 69-words of love
Are those what we call 'terms of endearment'?

Re: 69-words of love
Dear Joenuts
of course they ARE states of endearments, and my questions were the differences in the places they are used. For example, i know that baby is only used for the seriosest kind of love. but i didn't know the other one's exact place of occurance.

'Dear' is probably not used much between lovers. I wouldn't use 'baby' if you paid me- it's preference rather than a strict order.

Note that I used 'Are', not 'Aren't'. I asked the question for my benefit, not to tell you that they are called that.
