feet are used to describe both our right and left foot combined.so we should use 'are' with them.but we use 'is' with them and consider them singular.why?

Are you sure?
as i heard before, we use plural with feet
Matilda
I thought 'are' is used with feet like in the following sentence:
Burning feet are a common symptom in those with diabetes.
We don't. Do you have an example of a sentence you have spotted where the word "feet" is singular?Originally Posted by tvisha_gup
(Note that I wrote "feet is" there. But actually, in that sentence, I am talking about a word -- one word, singular -- and that word is "feet".)
"Feet" are plural. I cannot think of any situation where it would be correct to use "feet is..."Originally Posted by tvisha_gup
