please correct me.

a. marriage is an important matter of a whole life.("a" whole life refers to general- my life, ur life and others.
b. Marriage is an important matter of the whole life ("the" refers to specific person, either me or u)

hope to get ur feedback expecially those who are a teacher or profesional editor
