what 2 ctivities would you recommend for motivating the students?

It depends very much on the age, etc, of the students and their aims, but I think the main source of motivation comes from the teacher's enthusiasm and ability to make them want to learn and to see why they are doing so. I think it's personality driven rather than simply a matter of a couple of activities, though I teach very advanced students nowadays.
