    Default what does "it" refer?

Sorry for the irrelevant title. What is the difference between "who" and "whoever"? And are the following sentences correct?

1- I don't know who knows the truth.
2- I don't know whoever knows the truth.
3- I'll take who wants to go.
4- I'll take whoever wants to go.

    1- I don't know who knows the truth.(yeah,I think it's correct)
    2- I don't know whoever knows the truth.(this sentence doesn't make sense to me!!I think it's wrong)
3- I'll take who wants to go.(absolutely right!)
4- I'll take whoever wants to go.(should be "I'll take whoever that want to go")

    Just my humble opinions
