Smile "the same went for"

Is it grammatically correct to use the phrase "the same goes for" in simple past - "the same went for" or is it somewhat unusual? It's just that I haven't heard it very often so I'm wondering...
Thank you!

Hi Lukre,

It is grammatically correct and not unusual.

"My brother got bullied regularly when he was 10, and the same went for me at his age."

Not unusual, but I imagine less commonly used.
