Default "Chinese are" or "the Chinese are"?

Hi,
Is it ok to say "Chinese are friendly" instead of "THE Chinese are friendly"?

Just trying

The is necessary with adjectives, to refer to a whole group of people.Eg. The French, The Indians, The Chinese.

China - Country
Chinese - Adjective
