Hi
How can I use "in order that" in a sentence with two subjects to negate something. e.g. is this sentence is correct?
You should make a sandwich in order that the child is not hungry?
or maby there should be : "the child was not hungry" or "were not hungry"
thank you in advance for your help
Hello Maszgar
It would be more usual to say, in that context:
1. You should make a sandwich so that the child doesn't get hungry. ] i.e. to prevent hunger.
2. You should make a child to stop the child feeling hungry. ] i.e. to cure hunger.
Or, closer to your version:
3. You should make a child in order that the child doesn't feel hungry any more.
But you would not use "was/were not hungry".
