Red face Talking to a baby

Hello,
I am from Germany & have a question about "talking to a baby":
What's the correct english expression for animating a baby to wave
her hand ? ("Make wavy, wavy." or something like that? or should the verbs "beckon" or "motion" be used somehow ?)
Thanks for help.

As in German: "Winke winke!"?

I suppose some parents may say "Wavy-wavy" (but definitely not "Make wavy-wavy"). You might also hear: "Wave bye-bye", or "Wave hello", as appropriate.

I really don't think either "beckon" or "motion" would be used to talk to a baby.

You are right: I meant the german expression "Winke, winke".
Thanks for your advice.

Rewboss is correct dinilein, "Wave bye-bye" or "Wave hello" are normally used.
