Default 2 questions on grammar

1)I am getting confused with the s
For example, why is "his's expression" wrong? the expression belongs to him, so why is it grammaticaly wrong?

2)and want to confirm somemore grammar structure
"This item belongs to me"
1)Is it because "the item" is not the first (i) or second party (you) ?thats why belong must have "s"??
2)another question refering to the above sentence. Why is it "thats" and not "that"??? there is no party involved.
This is confusing me and i am sorry for my poor english.I just dont understand how and where to put the s in my sentences

"His" is already a possessive pronoun, and so does not take the Saxon genitive as well. If you like, it is equivalent to "him's" (this form is NOT correct - I am just using it to show the origin of "his").

1) Yes. "The item" is in the third person. The third person form of all regular English verbs is the present participle with an "-s" suffix. For example:

"I walk; you walk; he walks."
"I eat; you eat; he eats."
"I scream; you scream; he screams for ice creams ."

2) It's not "thats". It's "that's", because it is short for "That is".
