Hi everyone,
Now I am translating the chinese standard for testing the tempered glass lids into English, but I am not sure whether some of them are correct or conform to ways of thinking of westners.I would apprecicate it if you could help me.
sizes inspecting
① measuring and testing methods
a.The inner diameter(D1) and the outer diameter(D2) shall be measured with vernier caliper on different positions of the tempered glass ring three times for each lid.
b.the diameter of the central hole(D) ,the leg height(h),the dome height(H)
as well as the distance between the central hole and the vent( L)shall be measured one time for each lid.
c.The difference of the maximum diameter and the minimum diameter of each lid(Dmax-Dmin), the difference of the maximum length from the central hole to the edge of the lid and the minimum length from the central hole to the edge of the lid(Lmax --Lmin) shall be measured three times in different positions along the edge of the lid.
d.The thickness of the glass of the tempered glass lid(T) shall be measured one time on three different positions with micrometer.
e.Warpness testing:
with the concave side downward, place the tempered glass lid onto a piece of plate glass
horizontally ,measure the gap between the tempered glass lid and the plate glass 2 to 3 times with the feeler gauge to get the maximum amount.
Best Regards

vernier caliper- this either either have an indefinite article or be plural (I have seen both used).
on different positions of the tempered glass ring three times- three times on different positions of the tempered glass ring
with the concave side downward, place the tempered glass lid onto- fine, but I'd say Warp Testing

Hi tdol,
Thank you very much for your corrections. It seems that you are the only teacher I can depend on on my thread of our company's standard.
Thank you.
Best Regards.
You're asking for highly technical proofreading, which isn't really the remit of the forum, whose aims are language discussions not proofreading, so you'll get some answers, but really this should be taken to a scientific proofreading company.![]()

Hi tdol,
First Thank you for your help.
yes ,you are right .I could take it to a scientific proofreading company, but almost each of one of the company are chinese. It is almost impossible for them to translate it into standard English. What's more, they are not familar with the production procedure, which also causes some problems for them .So I come here to ask for help.
Best Regards.
