to put sb up a grade

The girl is in a Riding Competition and says to her friends:
"They've put me up a grade and I'm really freaking out about it."
What does it mean to be "put up a grade"?

i dunno about riding but maybe she was B class and got put into the tougher A class. Up a level i guess
