Kindergarten reading

It's summer vacation here in the Philippines and I want to teach my daughter better reading skills. She just graduated from kindergarten and i want to know how she can improve her reading skills. How do i start and what do i teach her? Right now, I am just giving her simple sentences to read such as "The cat is on the mat." Everyday I try to give her a sentence to read. Is that enough? Am i on the right track? I hope someone would help me how to make reading tutorials for my daughter. Thank you.
