What is the difference between:

It is in my room.
It is up in my room.

Does the second one mean that the room stands somewhere higher than the speaker? If so, we can also say "It is down in my room" to indicate
the room stands somewhere lower than the speaker?

It's up in my room would imply that the room is upstairs, so down would work as well.
