Cool The function of " that "

what does "that" indicate in this sentence?

our town is a third of the size that it used to be. here does that work as a relative noun or conjuction or what else?

look forward to seeing your response. As always, i really appreciate your assistance .

As you can replace it with 'which', or drop it, it's a relative pronoun.
