Default usage of "since"

Hello, dear teachers!

I hope you will help me. Is it possible to say "Since their children's birth parents are responsible for them."? I am not sure if this sentence sounds English and if it is possible to use "since" in this context.
Thank you in advance.

Default Re: usage of "since"

I'd use 'from'.
