Go to school, yet go to THE library?

Greetings,

How does this work please?

Why do I go to school, yet go to the library? likewise go to the park, yet go to bed?

These confuse me horribly. As a non native speaker of English, these small errors whilst speaking revert me back to a beginners level.

From my studying, I cannot seem to find a gramatical explaination for this.

I hope you can help.
