These are some words which give the same meanings , ( region , district, area ) I just want to ask you here what the differences among these words in meaning and in their positions in sentences And the same here with these four verbs ( linked, associated , related, regarding ) they give the same meaning , I am bit confussed about them I know they differentiate in the prepositions being used with each of them But still don’t know when to use this and when to use that Thanks in advance Last edited by herbiji; 19-Apr-2006 at 19:38.

I'd use region for a defined area of a country, district for part of a city and area for a less official space.

A region is a general area. "I live in the midwest region of Ohio" An area is slightly more specific. "I live in an area about 30 miles away from Columbus" A district is most specific. "I live in the Miami Trails district"
