    What is the word that describes when an author hints at something that is going to happen later in the story.

    I believe the term is Foreshadowing:

    Foreshadowing

    • Author hints of what will happen later in the story

      Creates suspense

      Hidden clue

      Usually the reader doesn't realize until later that the author was foreshadowing an event to happen
