Default Complex Sentences, mass noun

1. Is this a complex sentence:
The teacher reminded students to be punctual.

2. What is a mass noun?
Is "expedition" a mass noun? or a collective noun?

1 How many main verbs are there? I can only see one.
2 It has a plural- there have been many expeditions... I'm not sure that it has to be collective- you can have a one-person expedition.
