Just want to know rules of forming the present participle -ing, especially for those with repeating ending consonants and ending -y consonants, like cutting for cut, getting for get, but how about rememberring for remember, or payying for pay? Please help.
With -ing, the letter 'y' doesn't change:
paying
Trying
(The rule about the change is in the third person and past, where the 'y' changes to 'i' after a consonant)
The last letter of a one-syllable word with one vowel and ending in in a single consonant doubles.
