Which of these sentences are correct:

1-"The journalists after World War II were not the same as the journalists today."
2-"Journalists after World War II were not the same as journalists today."

3-"Journalists before World War II were not the same as journalists after World War II."

4-"John three years ago was not the same as John today."

1. You don't "the" in either case. Just write "journalists".


Number 4 is ok. The word order is not exactly common, though it is possible. I'd say a context would have to justify it in some way.

A more typical way of writing number 4 would be: Three years ago John was not the same as he is today.
