Default PASSIVE, FARAWAY as adjective, CHECKUP, and EXCUSE

Hello!. Thanks to everyone for making English clearer. Thanks indeed!

    Well, my questions:

    1.- PASSIVE.

"The candle was blown OUT by the wind"

There are two prepositions together. I am afraid it´s right
    but it makes me hesitating.

Should it be "THe candle was blown by the wind out"
It sounds bad, really. Isn´t it?

Help me! I really need to know it.

    2.- FARAWAY as an adjective.

Is it well used this adjective here to mean she
will be far away from she is now.

"She will be IN a FARAWAY place"

And what about the preposition "in"? Is it correct?
    3.- CHECKUP OR CHECK-UP?

I always thought that "CHECHUP" was the only way
to write this word, but I´ve seen on several occasions that
people write it like "CHECK-UP". Is it right?

    4.- "TO EXCUSE".

If I said: "I excused MYSELF: "Sorry, but
I have to take my dog out"

Would it be right? Or Should I use Excuse
    without MYSELF?

I excused: "Sorry, but I have to take
    my dog out"

Thanks for helping me every day!

    Have a Nice day!

    Jesús

Default Re: PASSIVE, FARAWAY as adjective, CHECKUP, and EXCUSE

    Hello J.

    1. "The candle was blown OUT by the wind"

    — This is fine. It isn't correct to put "out" at the end. By the way, I would take "out" as an adverb here.

    2.- FARAWAY as an adjective.

    — Yes, that's fine! Some people hyphenate "faraway", i.e. "far-away". But it isn't obligatory.

    3.- CHECKUP OR CHECK-UP?

    — Both "check-up" and "checkup" are fine.

    4.- "TO EXCUSE".
If I said: "I excused MYSELF: "Sorry, but
I have to take my dog out"
    Would it be right?

    — It would be fine; you need the "myself".

    Have a good Monday!
