| An option is one thing which can be chosen from a set of possibilities. When you have chosen one of the options, that is your choice. If you are not happy with that choice, you can choose an alternative – an option different from the one originally chosen. ( ) |

| Also, alternative should imply that there are only two possibilities, while there can be any number of options, although many people use alternative where there are more than two. :D |
