Could any teacher tell me if the following sentences are correct.
(1) Half a year later, I left for UK.
(2) Half of a year , I left for UK.
(3) A half year later, I left for UK.
(4) The meeting lasted for half of the day.
(5) The meeting lasted for half a day.
(6) The meeting lasted for half the day.
(7) The meeting lasted for the half day.
(8) It takes an hour and a half to go there by bus.
(9) It takes one and a half hour to go there by bus.

1, 3, 4,5, 6, 8 are correct (9 should be hours)

9 'Half a year' soumds much more natural.
10 'Half a day' again sounds better. If you mean that it lasted for half the scheduled time, then 'half the day' would work.
