Hello!
Here I've got a short extract from some Australian news paper: "Easterly winds and a weak trough are causing showers in northern QLD."
I'm especially interested in the meaning of "trough" in this sentece. Could that have something to do with an atmosphere pressure especially low atmosphere pressure?.
Thank you beforehand.
yes indeed
regards
Hi, John!
Thanks for replying me, but I'm afraid I didn`t quite get what you mean by 'yes indeed'? Was I right about a low pressure ?
Cheers
In weather forecasting, trough means, a long region of low atmospheric pressure. Its shape is similar to that of a (food) trough, a long narrow food container for animals.![]()
Thanks a lot, Casiopea! I've got it all clear now.
