| How would you explain the (syntatic and semantic) difference between: 1) "To grow to love literature more"; and 2) "to grow to love more literature" (but is this formulation correct?) Thank you very much for your help. Hela |

| 1) "To grow to love literature more" This implies that the person is going to eventually love literature even more than he currently does. His appreciation for reading literature will increase. 2) "to grow to love more literature" This says that the person is going to learn to love a wider selection of literature. Perhaps he currently loves to read only the works of 19th century English authors; he is now going to strive to appreciate works by American authors as well. |
