Default a while

Hi,

Thanks a lot for the reply but can I say I haven't heard from you ' for a while' instead?

would it be correct- because I mean to say that I haven't heard from him for sometime not for a long time.

Thanks a lot

--------------------------

"quite" means, really, very; e.g., It's quite cold outside, today; Her hair is quite long; They can be quite lazy.

"quite a while" means, (for) a long time; e.g., I haven't seen them in quite a while; She's been reading for quite a while.

"for a while" works, yes, and "for quite a while" expresses a longer period.
