    Default present participle use?

My son recently began using sentences such as " I am wanting to see that movie" or "Are you needing this?" Is this improper use of a present participle? Is this proper grammar? It sounds wrong to me, but my wife says it is fine.

    Default Re: present participle use?

Most of the time, we don't use these verbs in the progressive form, and in these examples I would agree with you that 'I want' or 'do you need' would fit better.
