dream of me

we say " dream of " --imagine sth/ doing sth
on the b-side, we say " dream about" ---thoughts that occur during sleep.

the expression "dream of me, does it only mean " think of me"?
isn't it used to say that i want you to dream about me?

Dream of me means, dream about me. There's a difference between think and dream. The former requires that the thinker be awake. ;-)
