a formal letter

If you were speaking to this person, what would you say? Is this a close friend or an aquaintance? Is there a serious illness or not so serious? Is this person religious? Are you? Answers to these questions will help you decide what to write.

I agree with River. Just because a friend is in hospital, why would the letter be formal. If a friend of mine were in hospital, I would try to make them feel more positive, etc, not write a formal letter.

as far as I am writing to a friend,I do not know how to show my emotions in a formal letter,my mind is black.
