Default Origin of Archery "END"

I know what the term Archery "End" means, but I am trying to find its origins and how it came to be used in this fashion. Where did the term "END" come from?

Default Re: Origin of Archery "END"

I have looked around and can't find anything, but end does have the idea of length sometimes (the ends of the earth), so could it be that association?
