This is my reply Dear Nancy,
I read the saying you have written which is "Disappointment is the nurse of wisdom." I want to tell you that the French writer who is called La Rochefoucauld said that disappointment is the nurse of wisdom. You can agree with this saying or not. From the words mentioned you can understand that most if not all wise people got through times when they were disappionted or frustrated by something and as a result they grew wise. This is what I can get out of the meaning of this saying. Thank you.Shaaban
