i am trying to translate an interview. it contains a phrase i don't understand:
"it is only natural for children to want to make themselves."
Any ideas?

That is not proper English. You can "make something of yourself" or "make yourself breakfast" (for example) but you cannot "make yourself" (unless you are an omnipotent deity, I suppose).
