Hi everybody
please look at these words;
Although, though, in spite of , despite of.

which ones that are more formal and we can used in academic writing?
and can we use them in same way all the time?

Hi:

Although, in spite of, and despite are all used in academic writing. "Though" is a slightly informal word to mean "although", but it is used in academic writing as well. Look at the Google Scholar citation result:

Although
Though
In spite of
Despite

You can also use "even though", which has a stronger emphasis than "although" has.
